Born in Bulgaria in 1970, Detelina holds a bachelor's degree in art education. Her specialty was textile and fashion design, an interest that she pursues as a designer of handcrafted ceramic hair ornaments incorporating motifs from traditional folk art.
She has been writing haiku since 1992, haiga since 2003, and has developed a distinctive style in which a photograph is set as a focal point within a larger image, often a manipulated version of itself. The rural landscapes of her homeland, bathed in their seasonal weather patterns, bring a sense of mood to her work.
In addition to Haigaonline, her publications include Simply Haiku, Full Moon, the World Haiku Association's contests as well as journals in Bulgaria. |
