Canadian by birth, Carole has been writing poetry for many years and is widely published. She is also an accomplished photographer who finds the subject matter of her haiga in the unique landscape that surrounds her home on the Pacific coast at the US-Canadian border at the 49th parallel. In her photography, she likes to capture "real life" by zooming in on her subjects so that they tell their own story once separated from the larger picture.
In this set of images, Carol explores the possibilities of haiga as linked form, pairing her images and setting them as collaborative and solo haiga for an effect of alternating voices.
Of her two collaborators, an'ya of course needs no introduction. Nor should Tom. One of Croatia's leading haiku poets, he is the recipient of numerous international awards and and is widely published. Online, his haiku may be found in Heron's Nest, Karolina riječka, Lishanu, Simply Haiku, temps libres,
and World Haiku Review. We're pleased to welcome him to Haigaonline.
