My position as a Reprographic Officer at the Archives Office of Tasmania means that I see a lot of archival images in various states and of an interesting historical nature. I had a conceptual idea of using a deposit of the glass plate slides in an exploration of the haiga form, by using various Photoshop techniques to give them my creative vision. I have enjoyed the process very much and I hope to do a more extensive series of these in the near future. This presentation is on theme of the hardships of early settlement in Tasmania through early penal and free settlement periods.
My thanks to the Archives Office of Tasmania for the use of the photographic images, to Shelia Windsor for the use of our haiku sequence 'Van Dieman's Land' and of course to Linda and Haigaonline for all their hard work in showing these and other poet/artists' work here.
