Eric Houck Jr. is a photographer, cartoonist, and author whose work has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, and the well-known children's magazines Jack and Jill, and Child Life. He is the author of Rabbit Surprise, a Junior Library Guild Selection children's book. His haiku and senryu have been widely published, and he has recently begun to explore haiga. He is a member of WHChaikumultimedia, a participant in the World Haiku Association's haiga contest, and publishes a haiga blog, www.ericshaiku.blogspot.com. The New York Catskill mountains, where his family has lived for generations, is frequently the subject of his work.
