Ed Karkow
Ed has many interests, but two of them are closer to passions. The first is the written word. The second is sailing. the two frequently mesh, illustrated by the packed book shelves in his house. Ed bought his first boat in Denmark as a young man, after leaving the US Navy. He cruised the Rhine, the Rhone, and the Mediterranean before sailing her back across the Atlantic. He continued to sail with his growing family. Now retired, Ed navigates his sloop, 'Freya', along the coast of Maine, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland . . . usually with his wife, Kirsty. Along the way, he takes wonderful photographs.
