acm grew up as a haiku poet on the 'Shiki Internet Haiku Salon' although eventually  moving on to other lists, the 'HSA', leading workshops, and editorship of Acorn, a journal of contemporary haiku

As for paying jobs, after many years of lab work earning a neuroscience Ph.D.,
AC decided to abandon science and make editing into a full-time profession, and now works for the 'Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics' on their professional journals.

Although not from the area originally, AC seems to have settled in Philadelphia for good, much to the pleasure of another local redhead, one noisy cat, and the local wine merchants.
