Catching a Moment:
Photo and Art Haiga by Dan Hardison

A native of Tennessee, Dan now lives in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he is a photographer, writer, and artist. His writing is primarily in the Japanese short form of haiku and haibun, and has appeared at Contemporary Haibun Online, Haibun Today, World Haiku Association, Haigaonline, Frogpond, Simply Haiku, South by Southeast, Magnapoets, moonset, and Modern Haiga. When he sent us the portfolio, Dan included this note on the first haiga:

The photograph is a picture of my grandmother and grandfather, long departed, sitting on their front porch. One of my grandmother's favorite flowers was the rain lily, which can be seen colorized in the old photograph. Sitting by my front door today is a descendant of my grandmother's rain lily.
