Nika (Jim Force) and Jim Webster

The duck in this haiga is one of the many varieties of imported domestic ducks that are found on farms throughout the world. This particular one lives in Barbados. As a domesticated species its purpose in life is to provide meat, eggs and down for its human keepers. What I find most delightful about the photo is the glint in the duck’s eye as well as the bit of a grin in its bill both of which hint that perhaps we would prefer chicken to duck for dinner at least for tonight. It is the humour captured in the photo that inspired the haiku. ~N
