Chinese lantern has a large covering over its fruit, which resembles paper lanterns. It is an ornamental plant but its fruit is used in medicine, too. Chinese lantern, called also Japan lantern, is invasive and has escaped cultivation. Naturally it grows from South Europe to South Asia and in Japan. In Poland where I live it is counted as a kenophyte (a plant that is found in an area where it had not been recorded previously). ~I.S.
