HAIKU THIS HAIGA

In the Traditional Haiga section we've just published another painting by resident artist Mary Rodning. The deadline for submissions to poem it is 1 May 2013. Include "Haiku this Haiga September 2013" in your subject line and email it to me, Linda, at

paplinda@yahoo.com

If your poem is chosen, it will be translated into Japanese by Hiromi Inoue and rendered in calligraphy by Shisen. Jasminka will make the haiga, and Choshi will compose bamboo flute music to accompany it. The completed haiga will be featured in our September 2013 issue.

THE HAIGA CHALLENGE FOR OUR AUTUMN 2013 ISSUE:
THE MOON!

With "blossom" as the challenge theme for our first Spring issue, we just had to do "moon" for our first autumn issue. If you've ever been involved with renku, you'll have learned to anticipate and love the moon verses. As a kigo, "moon" is the quintessential autumn season reference, but the moon is up there all year round and there's always the challenge of writing it in other seasons. If you'd like some interesting reading to jump start your creativity, check out Gabi's moon page at the World Kigo Database, or the Farmer's Almanac's list of Native American moon names.

Entries are due by 1 August 2013. Put "Haigaonline Moon Challenge" in your subject header, and email them to me, the editor, paplinda@yahoo.com.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS, COPYRIGHT, ETC.

All submissions to our Haiku this Haiga and Haiga Challenge features must be the work of the submitting author/artist, unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. This includes not only publication in online and print journals but also works displayed where others can access them on personal web pages, online photo albums, blogs, and at online workshop groups and forums.

Copyright to all work published by Haigaonline is held by the artists and authors. Nothing in the issue may be copied, reproduced or republished without their written permission. Artists and authors are free to republish work when the issue is no longer current, but agree as a condition of acceptance to credit Haigaonline as the first place of publication.

Haigaonline does not pay authors for works accepted for publication. We reserve future right to republish all items from our website in digital, hard copy or CD format, as is useful in promoting Haigaonline as an online zine.
