HAIKU THIS HAIGA

Because we're changing our publication schedule, there's not enough lead time for Haiku this Haiga. Look for this feature to return in our Spring 2013 issue.

THE HAIGA CHALLENGE FOR OUR SPRING 2013 ISSUE:
BLOSSOMS!

Join us in celebrating our new publication schedule with a challenge haiga on that most important Spring season reference: Blossoms. Traditionally, the default species of tree for "blossom" is cherry, though we'll give you leeway to write plum, quince, pear, apple, crabapple or hawthorn. Not flowers, though—please stick with blossoming fruit trees. To help you go deeper into the season reference, Gabi Greve has collected extensive material at World Kigo Database on cherry and the other blossoms as well as on the distinction between blossoms and flowers, as the terms are used in English language haiku.

Entries are due by 28 February 2013. Put "Haigaonline Blossom Challenge" in your subject header, and email them to me, the editor, paplinda@yahoo.com.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS, COPYRIGHT, ETC.

All submissions to our Haiku this Haiga and Haiga Challenge features must be the work of the submitting author/artist, unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. This includes not only publication in online and print journals but also works displayed where others can access them on personal web pages, online photo albums, blogs, and at online workshop groups and forums.

Copyright to all work published by Haigaonline is held by the artists and authors. Nothing in the issue may be copied, reproduced or republished without their written permission. Artists and authors are free to republish work when the issue is no longer current, but agree as a condition of acceptance to credit Haigaonline as the first place of publication.

Haigaonline does not pay authors for works accepted for publication. We reserve future right to republish all items from our website in digital, hard copy or CD format, as is useful in promoting Haigaonline as an online zine.
