OUR "SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND ROUTINES" CHALLENGE

How do you spend your summers? Over the past few years we've tended to pick the season references for our themes from nature, but this time I thought we'd look to those season references that the saijiki groups as "humanity ", "human affairs" and "daily life" or "observances". It was interesting to see that several responses had to do with water, the sea, or summer travel. I feel refreshed already, and I hope you'll enjoy them too!

FOR OUR NEXT THEMED CHALLENGE . . .THE SUN!

Join us in the December issue by creating a haiga on the topic of "sun". For those of us in the northern hemisphere this will be the Winter sun, but if you're in the southern hemisphere and it's summer for you, or if the spirit takes you, write, depict or express the sun in any season you choose. Let's see how many ways we can find to explore its nature and effect on our lives.

Entries are due by the next equinox: 22 September 2012. Put "Haigaonline Sun Challenge" in your subject header, and email them to me, the editor, paplinda@yahoo.com. Please see our Submissions page for more information and details about submission procedures and copyright.
