My venture into online photo editors began almost casually when I noticed a button labeled "Edit Photos" down on the left bar of my Yahoo Mail page. I uploaded this iPhone shot of the Boston skyline that I took during a layover at Logan Airport a couple of years ago and tested it with some photo enhancement and a simple caption haiku from that rainy afternoon.

The editor is Picnik. It can also be accessed through Picasa, Flickr, Facebook, Webshots or Photobucket, and directly through its home page. Picnik allows editing operations such as color and exposure adjustment, rotating cropping and resizing, as well as artistic effects, text and borders. There's a premium upgrade, but I chose to stick with the basic free version.
