Bronze Moon Etchings
Most people who know my haiga work understand that I like to work in various media from traditional ink painting to fine art photography. I also like to mix various elements together and this latest series is another exploration of combining handmade art with imaging software. I enjoy the immediacy of sketchbook work, so I decided to create some quick expressive drawings using pencil marks and shading along with vertical haiku placement.
I scanned the image into Photoshop along with some old glass plate images. My creative vision was to create a sort of dry point etching look on an actual plate. I then inverted the drawn image to create a negative, which I could then place on the wonderful textured glass plate. I added tone and colour and balanced all the elements together and added my seal. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did creating it.
