We are delighted and honored to feature this exquisite portfolio of traditional haiga by Patricia and Martha. In this collaboration, the haiku and painting are Patricia's andthe calligraphy Martha's.
Patricia is a past president of the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society, currently its treasurer, and together with Jerry Ball, a columnist for its journal Geppo. She has published a book of her own haiku, Blush of Winter Moon (2001), and together with Fay Aoyagi translated Kiyoko's Sky: Haiku of Kiyoko Tokutomi ( Brooks Books, 2002). She is a student of brush painting with Professor Paul Hau at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto, CA.
Martha is a botanist and freelance author of books and articles, an academic editor, and a student of Chinese culture. She studied calligraphy while in Hong Kong where she lived for twenty years.
